After 13 years here in Crestline I find it beyond sad to no longer see the squirrels and birds around. It was a slow revelation resulting in shock of the loss. No answer as to their return, only West Nile has taken them down. Can anything be done? Are they gone forever? The acorns were abundant to a dangerous level alone, presumed to be to the squirrel loss. So bad, results and risks of falls were a fact of life this year. Does anyone have an answer here??This turned out to be a question, not a comment. Sorry.

That is really cool, Andrew, about your bear sighting. I wonder what he was looking for? Maybe a cozier place to hibernate when winter comes! :-)

Yesterday, August 9, 2009, around 5pm a black bear wandered from my next door neighbor's property over to mine. After milling about for a few minutes it continued on to the neighbor's house on the other side. Pretty unusual!
